Before attending law school, Amy Currotto trained as an opera singer and actor. With the experience of being a performer, Amy learned early on how to engage an audience and command a courtroom.
Amy began her career working in the halls of United States Congress in Washington DC, where she focused on a wide array of issues including policy to protect Florida homeowners. While working on the Hill, Amy became passionate about advocacy for policyholders and fighting injustice against powerful entities like insurance companies. As a result, it was natural that Amy would work at a firm that represented people and businesses against the largest corporations in the world.
Amy graduated from the University District of Columbia School of Law, where she served as President of the UDC Law Mock Trial Team, President of the UDC Law Negotiations Team, and President of the International Law Society. While attending law school, Amy also worked at the World Bank at the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes and served as a Teaching Assistant where she taught and tutored classmates in Evidence. Amy focused heavily in law school on obtaining trial skills by working as a Student Attorney for Law students in court, where she would represent indigent clients in D.C. Superior Court. Amy has also won numerous international negotiations awards, including “Best Delegate” and “Honorable Mention” at the Czech Republic and Washington DC National Model United Nations Conference. Amy has lectured across the country on topics related to negotiations, dispute resolution, and human rights.
Prior to attending law school, Amy studied acting at the Shakespeare Theatre Company in Washington DC and obtained a Bachelor’s in Music from the University of South Florida. During her time at the University of South Florida, Amy founded the USF Model United Nations Program and served as its President during the duration of her time at the University of South Florida.
Chip Merlin noted: “We are fortunate to have so many people who truly love what they do at Merlin Law Group. Amy is one of them. She is a rising star and leader for policyholder advocacy.”
