Biography
Stephanie Thompson brings a perspective to property insurance law that few attorneys can claim: she grew up in this industry. Raised around the practice of plaintiff-side and property insurance law, Stephanie learned the business long before she became an attorney herself.
Early in her career, she intentionally spent time on the defense side, wanting to understand how insurers approached claims and litigation. While the experience offered her valuable insight, it also reinforced that standing with policyholders is where she belongs.
Based in Los Angeles, Stephanie brings more than 14 years of legal experience to Merlin Law Group. Her practice is centered on representing policyholders in property insurance disputes, a role that has become especially meaningful after witnessing the effects of California’s devastating wildfire seasons. For Stephanie, these disasters are deeply personal. She has seen how quickly lives can be upended and how difficult the recovery process can be for families, businesses, and entire communities. Experiencing these realities firsthand reinforces why she is committed to helping policyholders secure the benefits they need to rebuild their lives.
Stephanie understands that clients often connect with us after experiencing a significant loss, facing uncertainty, and wondering what comes next. She believes those situations call for more than legal knowledge—they require trust, empathy, and honest communication. By taking the time to listen, answer questions, and explain each step of the process, Stephanie helps clients feel informed and supported while she works to protect their interests. Her goal is for every client to know they have an advocate who genuinely understands what they’re facing and is committed to helping them move forward.
Outside the office, Stephanie enjoys spending time with her husband, daughter, son, and their rescue dog. As a family, they love heading to the beach, riding bikes, and taking advantage of Southern California’s beautiful landscape.
