Biography
Miranda D. Martin is a lifelong San Franciscan who was raised in the Mission District and remains deeply connected to her community. Throughout her legal career, she has advocated for individuals who have historically been underserved and helped clients navigate complex disputes affecting their homes, property and financial security.
At Merlin Law Group, Miranda represents property owners and policyholders in disputes with their insurance carriers. Her practice focuses on first-party property insurance claims, including matters involving breach of contract and insurance bad faith. She helps clients understand and protect their rights when insurers fail to fulfill their obligations under the policy or the law.
Miranda was drawn to Merlin Law Group and property insurance law by the opportunity to apply her civil litigation experience to a broad range of property-related disputes across jurisdictions. Before joining the firm, Miranda served for three years as a staff attorney with the Law Office of the Tenderloin Housing Clinic, a nonprofit community-based organization representing San Francisco tenants. She handled a broad range of real estate and landlord-tenant matters, including eviction defense and affirmative claims involving habitability issues, unlawful rent increases, negligence, breach of contract, breach of the covenant of quiet enjoyment, premises liability, general liability, wrongful eviction and tenant harassment.
Miranda represented clients throughout litigation, including at trial, as well as in alternative dispute resolution proceedings such as mandatory settlement conferences and mediations. Her previous work provides a strong foundation for advocating on behalf of policyholders facing powerful insurance companies.
Outside of her legal practice, Miranda enjoys painting with oils on canvas. She is also a devoted mother and an active participant in her children’s lives. Much of her free time is spent with her family, attending practices, games, school functions, and other community events throughout San Francisco.
