Courtney Wadas is a lawyer in the Houston, Texas office. She has personally handled hundreds of first party insurance litigation matters on behalf of commercial property owners and residential homeowners for claims for damages including hurricane, windstorm, hail, plumbing leaks, fire, and theft claims.
Courtney originally began her legal career with a focus on first party insurance and complex litigation from a defense perspective in which she second chaired several successful trials. She handled all aspects of litigation, and then moved on to work on mass tort claims for a few years from a defense perspective, actively working on cases from start to finish as a Jurisdictional Manager of her own cases. She moved into a role of General Counsel for an SAP/IT Consulting business headquartered in Houston handling their day-to-day transactional work with subcontractors and clients as well as handling litigation matters for the company to include employee disputes, contractual disputes, account receivables, representation of her client at California labor board matters, as well as helped coordinate human resources for the company. She continued representation of this company for several years during which time the company enjoyed a successful merger with another IT consulting firm based in California.
In 2010, after experiencing first hand damage to her own property from Hurricane Ike as well as the difficulty that comes when trying to rebuild a property when an insurance carrier does not pay the claim in full, Courtney moved to the “other side of the insurance docket” at which time she found her niche in law representing policyholders from a plaintiff’s perspective. She worked her own docket of hundreds of Hurricane Ike cases solely on behalf of policyholders and was instrumental in bringing over ten million dollars worth of recoveries and settlements in just over two years on behalf of her clients who included commercial property owners, residential homeowners, and homeowner’s associations, and continued to bring in millions of dollars of settlements thereafter. She has experience in handling all aspects of litigation including pretrial litigation, depositions, court hearings, settlement conferences, mediations, and trial preparation. Today, Courtney enjoys helping bring out about successful resolution for policyholders and works hard on their behalf.
When not helping policyholders, Courtney enjoys spending time with her family, including her husband and her twins who keep her life busy and full of joy.
