Douglas L. Grose, Esq. (Retired)

Biography

Doug Grose served as a litigator with Merlin Law Group and built extensive experience advocating for insureds in states from Florida to California. After a distinguished career devoted to protecting policyholders’ rights, he retired from the practice of law in February 2025.

Mr. Grose graduated from the University of South Florida and received his J.D. from Florida State University College of Law in Tallahassee, Florida. During his career, he was admitted to all state and federal courts in Florida, the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court, and he was admitted pro hac vice in Alabama, California, Illinois, North Carolina, Tennessee, and the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

Mr. Grose’s representation included pre-suit client assistance as well as extensive state court and federal court litigation experience for a range of clients—from individual homeowners to large commercial and condominium-related matters. He was active in the American Association for Justice (formerly ATLA), the Florida Justice Association (formerly the Academy of Florida Trial Lawyers), and the nationwide Bad Faith Litigation Group of the AAJ.

His extensive involvement in fire-related insurance claims also led him to active participation in the National Fire Protection Association, National Association of Fire Investigators, and the International Association of Fire Investigators. Mr. Grose was honored to speak on various subjects before the AAJ, FJA, Florida Association of Public Insurance Adjusters, the Windstorm Network, and the Insurance Committee for Arson Control.
