David J. Pettinato, Esq., To Be Honored for Leadership at Annual AAJ Convention
The Merlin Law Group is pleased to announce that one of its attorneys, David J. Pettinato, will be honored in front of his peers at the American Association of Justice’s 2010 Annual Convention. Mr. Pettinato is a recipient of the Wiedemann & Waysocki Award that honors attorneys for their commitment to their profession and support for improving the civil justice system.
The Wiedemann & Wysocki Award was established in honor of Fritz Wiedemann and James Anthony Wysocki, two New Orleans-based attorneys and active leaders of the American Association for Justice (AAJ) who died in a plane crash while traveling to an AAJ event.
David J. Pettinato, Esq., has been advocating for the rights of policyholders as a plaintiff attorney for Merlin Law Group for six years. A strong litigator, Mr. Pettinato has time and again successfully battled insurance companies to ensure that Merlin Law Group clients receive the benefits they are entitled according to their policies and the law. He has given his time to help and lead other policyholder advocates and has promoted the cause of policyholders on a national basis.
In addition to his full schedule representing clients and as an indication of his dedication to the legal profession, Pettinato has been a member of the American Association of Justice for nearly a decade. The AAJ, also known as the Association of Trial Lawyers of America (ATLA), has supported trial attorneys representing consumers and the injured for more than 60 years. It is the collective voice of the trial bar on Capitol Hill and in courthouses across the nation.
In recognition of the selection of Mr. Pettinato for the Wiedemann & Waysocki Award, Anthony Tarricone, AAJ President said, “These recipients have demonstrated a deep commitment to the highest standard and duties of trial lawyers. When called upon, these individuals demonstrated extraordinary leadership.”
Founding member of the Merlin Law Group, Willliam “Chip” Merlin similarly stated, “David is more than due this recognition. He is a devoted advocate and has volunteered countless hours to help promote interests of policyholders through his work with the AAJ.”
During the course of his membership in AAJ, Mr. Pettinato has progressively assumed more responsible positions within the organization’s Bad Faith Litigation Section, eventually serving as Chair in 2006 – 2007. He will serve as Chair Elect for the Insurance Law Section’s 2010 – 2011 session.
